Site of Odani Castle
Odani Castle is a mountain castle listed as a national historic landmark. It was the castle of the Azai Clan - military commanders in the Sengoku period (1467 to 1590) - for three generations. You will find a large panorama extends out under your eyes allowing you to see up to Lake Biwa. The site is ideal for hiking with cherry blossoms in the spring, green leaves in the early summer and red leaves in the fall. It is counted as one of the top one hundred castles of Japan.
