During this festival, about 10,000 fireworks centered on star mines are launched, colorfully painting the summer night and Lake Biwa, Japanese largest lake.
Fireworks launched from Nagahama Port Bay are set off not only directly overhead but also in all directions over the lake surface creating breathtaking panoramic views with big weeping-willow-like fireworks.
The fireworks can be enjoyed up close from special seats which are recommended for the best view of the fireworks.
