Facilities based in the Kohoku water bird park, the largest habitat for wild birds in the prefecture. The Kohoku Wild-Bird Center allows you to view the wild birds resting on the lakeshore in front of the center using binoculars. The Biwako Waterfowl & Wetland Center is also on the same premises, and provides an excellent and easy to understand overview of not only the wild birds and nature but also the history and scenery of Lake Biwa, a site protected by the Ramsar Convention.
